As an eNGO, we believe partnering with businesses of all sizes is paramount to delivering real change at scale when it comes to shared water challenges in the UK and Ireland. Much of our strategic work with corporates who are looking to work side by side with The Rivers Trust is led by our Water Stewardship Service.

The Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) defines water stewardship as, “The use of water that is socially and culturally equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically beneficial, achieved through a stakeholder-inclusive process that includes both site- and catchment-based actions.”

Our Water Stewardship Service is a one-stop-shop which helps businesses to work at catchment scale and deliver sustainable solutions for water. We can support companies to deliver practical solutions in meeting ambitious water neutrality or reduction goals. Our understanding of the national and local challenges makes us a valuable partner when delivering at scale and pace.

The Rivers Trust is part of the Catchment Based Approach (CaBA). CaBA allows multiple stakeholders from different sectors to come together for collaborative action. These networks make informed and outcome-focused decisions for managing the environment and adapting to climate change.

Our Water Stewardship expertise connects businesses to over 100 Catchment Partnerships and 65 local Rivers Trusts, to deliver on the ground actions which improve the sustainability of both the water environment and the businesses involved. We are particularly focused on agricultural supply chains, working with farmers and communities to replenish water resources, regenerate productive land, and recover biodiversity.
