Across Europe, our rivers are under threat from many pressures including pollution, taking too much water for homes and business and human modification.

To tackle these threats and ensure our freshwater environment is healthy, it needs to be managed in a co-ordinated way that makes sense for the environment.

WaterLIFE was set up to bring together communities, businesses and government for the benefit of people and nature.

WaterLIFE is a three-year project, funded through the EU’s LIFE+ programme for the environment, being implemented by The Rivers Trust, WWF and Westcountry Rivers Trust.
