DNAire River Stewardship Assistant Apprenticeship – Aire Rivers Trust

As an apprentice you will help volunteers restore, develop, and maintain countryside or urban spaces along the river to make it a better place for both people and wildlife. The work you will do will range from hedge laying to path maintenance to running nature walks to achieve a Countryside Worker apprenticeship qualification.

Duties include:

  • To undertake environmental conservation activities along the River Aire that helps make the river a better place for people and nature
  • To develop the skills required to competently do the tasks above and (with support) help volunteers develop them to
  • To support the delivery of community engagement activities, including but not limited to guided walks and school visits
  • Assist with the production of publicity materials and update social media as required

Desired skills

  • The ability to complete a Level 2 Countryside Worker Apprenticeship
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team in a work (or non-school) environment
  • Practical tool skills gained from, for example, Design Technology lessons or personal hobbies
  • The ability to use common IT packages like MS Word

Personal qualities

  • Good time keeping, a mature attitude and the ability to work safely in an outdoor environment
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weathers
  • The ability to relate to both adults and children from a wide range of backgrounds
  • The ability to enthuse and motivate others
  • Experience of using social media

Desired qualifications

  • At least 3 GCSE’s A* – D (9-4) grade inc English A* – C (9-4)
  • We may ask you to undertake a DBS, or other relevant, check
