Catchment Project Officer
River Waveney Trust – Catchment Project Officer
We are seeking an experienced full-time catchment officer to lead on a range of projects which seek to improve water quality in the catchment, addressing both agricultural and domestic sources. A significant part of the project officers role will be working on behalf of a farm cluster group to achieve their group aims as well as delivering targeted one to one farm and domestic septic tank advice visits.
The main responsibilities will be to:
- Facilitate a Waveney catchment ‘water and woodlands’ farmer cluster. The facilitators role will be to work on behalf of the farmers to achieve their group aims; administrating the project, organising meetings and training events, providing coordination, advice and seeking funding.
- Deliver a programme of one to one farm visits within the Waveney catchment in order to give targeted farm advice and deliver interventions designed to reduce soil and water run-off and sediment input into watercourses. This is a partnership project with Norfolk Rivers Trust.
- Deliver a programme of advice on domestic septic tanks as part of an awareness raising campaign called Yellowfish, spreading the message of ‘only water down the drain’. This is a partnership project with Groundwork.
The role will suit an experienced and self-motivated individual with a good knowledge and experience of local farming practices and soil and water conservation plus excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Relevant qualifications such as BASIS soil and water and FACTS would be an advantage.
It is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our small team. There will be significant opportunities to help shape the future of the Trust and take a role in its development as an organisation.
The Trust currently comprises a team of dedicated trustees and volunteers plus a part time Development Manager, who will work closely with the project officer.
