Wandle Cleanup

Beddington Park

Sunday 8th of September 2019 – Beddington Park, Sutton.  11am – 3pm

For our September Wandle Cleanup we’re hosting a Litter Picnic!

In the last 12 months, we’ve removed a massive 40 tonnes of rubbish from the river! We couldn’t have done it without our dedicated volunteers so to thank you for all your hard work along the Wandle this year, we’ll be hosting a Litter Picnic for our volunteers and their families.

11am-1pm will be our usual cleanup along the river, followed by a celebration lunch.

Throughout the morning, we will also be running loads of kid friendly activities, so bring the kids and grandchildren along to enjoy a day by the river. They will have the chance to become River Doctors, investigating the wildlife on the Wandle and carry out some river tests to determine how healthy the river is.

If you’d like to stay for the picnic lunch it would be great to get an idea of numbers to ensure we have enough delicious food for all. So please RSVP HERE!

If you would like to contribute to the picnic with a delightful homemade cake or treat then we would also love to hear about that!

As always, please arrive before 11am for the Welcome Talk and Health & Safety Briefing. You will find the Wandle Trust tent set up in Beddington Park, on Church Road just before it crosses the Wandle. Plan your journey with TFL’s Route Planner.
Nearest Postcode: SM6 7NH

If you haven’t been before, we supply the equipment (such as chest waders and gloves) but ask that you dress for the weather, where clothes you don’t mind getting a little muddy and wear sturdy shoes like wellies or walking boots. We supply Tea and Coffee and on this occasion a celebratory picnic!

If you have any questions, please call Jess on 07741 872381.

This event is possible with support from the National Lottery Community Fund.
