River Waveney Trust

The aims of River Waveney Association are to ensure the river, its tributaries and its surroundings are maintained and made as accessible as possible for the enjoyment of local residents and the public at large now and for future generations. It will achieve this by:

  • being a forum and network for residents of local communities and members of clubs and societies having an interest in use of the river, its tributaries and valley

  • encouraging improvements to water quality, flows and general cleanliness for the river and its tributaries

  • working with bodies holding statutory responsibilities for the river and its valley to encourage improvements for all users by removal of unnecessary structures and obstructions and to support projects undertaken by such bodies involving improvement of the ecology, navigation, angling and general access

  • improving access to the river for children, young people and adults of all ages and abilities and giving them the chance to develop their talents and enjoy the benefits of peaceful enjoyment of the environment

  • aiding communication between riparian owners, clubs and societies, communities, local government, and regional and national bodies about river matters

  • promoting the role of the river in the cultural, social, educational, environmental, and economic life of the Waveney Valley including its built and industrial heritage and

  • collectively sharing information and advice on relevant matters of national, regional and local significance and working towards the formation of a charitable Trust with the powers to hold assets, including land, raise funds and manage projects related to the objectives of the Trust
