Habitat Problems

i) WATER QUALITY - Unpolluted water is essential. Pollution may be caused by a wide variety of factors. Here are some examples:

- Industrial pollution – industrial conurbations have seriously damaged many river systems.

- Silage run off/sheep dip/chemicals can all cause serious problems if they are not handled and managed properly. Both organo phosphate and synthetic pyrethroid sheep dips are a major concern in some parts of the country. Many upland rivers have been seriously damaged by sheep dips.
