Habitat - General

Streams need plenty of boulders, roots and other types of cover. Parr are territorial and behave aggressively towards one another. The more cover there is the less time is spent fighting and the more fish the stream will carry.

Bank side vegetation is needed to provide food and shade.

Good habitat on the Lyne, a tributary of the Upper Tweed

Leaf litter is also a vital part of the diet of the invertebrates and insects on which fish feed.
